Road Number 516
This detailed Atlas HO Scale Master Silver GE Dash 8-40BW is based on the four-axle diesels delivered with the North American safety cab. By the early 1990s the North American Cab had begun to replace the standard cab on regular production GE four and six-axle locomotives.
The only order for four-axle Dash 8-40Bs with this new cab came from Santa Fe, and thus the Dash 8-40BW model was unique to that road. A total of 83 units were built and many are still in service today for BNSF, but several have since gone on to secondary owners.
This detailed model features a five-pole, skew-wound motor with dual flywheels, directional LED lighting, working front and/or rear ditch lights as appropriate, Accumate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers, accurate decoration and other roadname-appropriate body details.
This model also includes a DCC socket for easy decoder installation when you're ready. This The GE Dash 8-40BW is one of many Atlas HO Scale locomotives.
