The Despatch Shops N9 and N9E transfer caboose were Penn Central-era clones of a New York Central conversion program using frames of 40ft boxcars. Over 200 examples of these classes and similar cars combined were built between 1968 and 1969. Penn Central and Conrail era cars could be found all across their respective systems in local freight and other secondary service. The prototypes can still be found today, some still working for their original owner!
Our model features roadname and era specific details, etched-metal grating where applicable, interior detail and lighting, and flashing FRA markers per prototype. Interior and auxiliary lighting will be controlled with a magnet wand.
