The definitive coal car of the second half of the 20th century was the open 90-100 ton, 45' rib-side, 3-bay hopper developed by the Norfolk & Western shops. Over 130,000 of these cars were built in the 1960s, with Bethlehem Steel and ACF supplying prefabricated kits to railroads across the country. Union Pacific amassed large numbers of the 45-foot hoppers, and repainted examples continue in service today.
This Special Edition 2-pack from Full Throttle / Pennzee is the fifth Union Pacific 100-ton hopper 2-pack in the series and carries two new, unique road numbers. The detailed coal loads are crafted by Hay Brothers.
