Built in 1978 by Greenville Steel Car Company, this 3420 cu. ft. open hopper was painted blue with the large “Route Rock” logo. Eventually, it made its way to the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad under series 50000-51299. The Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad is a Class II railroad that operates between Conneaut, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and began operations in 1869. In 2004, the B&LE was purchased by Canadian National Railway, and it continues to operate as a subsidiary today.
