This Union Pacific track geometry inspection car is automated and outfitted with various sensors to examine track conditions such as position, curvature, alignment, smoothness, track gauge, as well as defects such as incorrect rail profile, rail warp, and other parameters. It can then record and transmit this data in detail and mark areas needing repair or adjustment.
This boxcar features free-rolling Delrin(R) trucks with contoured axles, truck-mounted Magne-Matic(R) couplers and diecast metal underframes or interior weights. Cars also include thin-profile foot stirrups, brake wheels and fine decoration. This 50' Single-Door Boxcar without Roofwalk is one of many Micro-Trains N Scale freight cars.
