Forest products have long been the lifeblood of the British Columbia Railway (BC Rail). In the early 1990s, BC Rail set out to revitalize their rolling stock fleet to better serve this essential industry. In need of a high-capacity boxcar to transport these goods to both the Canadian and US markets.
The 6637 boxcars would quickly enter service transporting finished lumber products such as oriented strandboard, plywood, lumber and more from BC to destinations all over North America. These could be seen everywhere!
