Product Information:
Authentic Southwestern Flavor for your Railroad
The Walthers Cornerstone Mission-Style Depot is based on a standard Santa Fe design used across the railroad. Santa Fe led the pack in selling the American southwest as a vacation destination, and part of their overall program included redoing many stations with pinkish-tan stucco walls, tile roofs and mission-style trim to resemble traditional adobe buildings. Depending on the location, a matching stucco freight station (easily modeled with kit 933-2921, sold separately) was often built as an add-on to the depot or nearby as a freestanding structure.
While the depot was a Santa Fe design, similarly styled stations were used on several railroads. This easy-to-build HO structure kit includes a realistic stucco structure with clay tile roof, window glazing, wood trim, a brick platform and realistic printed signs. Many still stand and most have been repurposed for other uses, so the Mission-Style Depot will look great on any layout set between the 1930s and the present.
