Product Information:
A key part of Union Pacific's public relations programs, the famed Heritage Fleet consists of 48 historic passenger cars and three E9 diesels. Many of these cars were originally purchased for the City Streamliners and have since been carefully restored and updated to full operating condition.
Appearance and Features:
Today, they're finished in a modern Armour Yellow scheme, with the cars carrying names of important cities, famous trains, and key people in the railroad's long history.
The cars sport early or late lettering schemes, as noted in two versions.
Factory-printed name with number decal for pre-1987 cars.
Factory-printed name and UPP number for post-1994 cars.
They feature factory-installed grab irons and prototypically accurate window tinting and gaskets where appropriate.
Modeler-installed extended drawbars for 22" radius curves are included.
They ride on correct 36" RP-25 metal wheelsets and Proto MAX(TM) metal knuckle couplers.
Operation Requirements:
As these cars are the correct prototype length and feature full underbody detail to match the prototypes, a minimum 24" radius is recommended for operation.
Functionality:
These rolling goodwill ambassadors travel system-wide and beyond, behind UP's restored steam and diesel locos, to attend a wide range of public and special events every year.
